If you’ve decided that you’re ready to start your blog, congratulations!  I’m so glad you’re here and hopefully, we can go on this blogging adventure together.  You’ve probably figured out what you want to write about and you may have even gotten your blog set up and written a few articles.  You’re off to a great start.how to live your dreams

But, where are you going?  Where do you hope for this blogging journey to take you?  Is this a hobby for you in your spare time?  Are you hoping to build a business?  Your ultimate goals will help you to understand the next steps you should take on your blogging journey.  Have you thought about how to live your dreams for what you’re creating?

So let’s take a step back.  If you were able to achieve all your blogging dreams, what would they be?  Where do you see yourself as a blogger 1, 3, or 5 years from now?  Take some time and write those down.  Make it real.  Don’t hold yourself back, no matter how “ridiculous” your goals might seem.  For me, the goal setting process was a little scary.  I had all my hopes and dreams down on a piece of paper.  Now they were real.  I felt accountable to myself to try and get there.  I wanted to find a way to make it happen.  It gave me more inspiration and hope than that pie in the sky dreams going on in my head.  Will I get there?  We’ll see.  I write about my blogging journey.  You can read the first update here and follow along.  I’d love to see us succeed together.

How Do I Achieve My Goals?

If you have your goals in front of you (hopefully in writing), now you can make a plan to achieve them.  Break that annual goal down into smaller pieces.  What would it take quarterly to achieve those goals?  Monthly?  Weekly?  Daily?

By continually breaking down your big goals into smaller pieces you will naturally create an action plan that results in reaching your goals.

If you’re like me, you need a step by step outline for getting projects done.  I love checklists and do a happy dance whenever I can cross something off my list.  The exercise of breaking my goals down into bite-sized pieces really helped me to focus my energy on the things I needed to be doing and quit wasting time figuring out what I needed to do next.  It has made me so much more productive.  The process also helped me to identify my blind spots.  The things the I might need to do, but am uncertain of how to start.  Having a roadmap helped me to identify those things and rather than panic, I can plan for them when the time comes.

If you need help with setting your goals, you can use the same workbook I used to help get me started and on the right track.  It’s free.how to live your dreams

Goal setting is a lot of work.  Breaking down your hopes and dreams into bite-sized manageable pieces can be overwhelming and scary.

I promise you that it’s worth it.  You’re creating the roadmap to achieving those hopes and dreams that have been batting around in your head.  Now you have the chance to turn those dreams into action.  Take as much time as you need.  There’s no rush.  This is your business we’re talking about!  The process provided me with so much clarity and focus.  I’m sure it will do the same for you.
