We teach our children to be polite and to say thank you. We want them to understand the importance of good manners and also of helping others. James Karagiannis puts those all together. He’s known around Buffalo, New York as the Ice Creamcycle Dude. But he doesn’t only have ice cream to offer. He offers his tiny little patrons a lesson in gratitude. How about some ice cream and thank yous?
Ice Cream and Thank Yous
He noticed that some of the children in his community were not able to afford the cold treats he sold. Rather than lament at the problem, James came up on with a solution. For those who did purchase his sweet treats, he gave them a chance to make a donation to pay for a dessert for someone who would otherwise go without.
But the story doesn’t stop there. He had a requirement. If the children wanted to have an ice cream cone, they would be required to write a thank-you note to the person that was able to make the donation.
What a sweet lesson in gratitude and helping others. We need more people in our community like this. Do you have anyone making a difference like this in your community? We’d love to hear your story.
