In this review, we are going to be talking about a site that I’ve used for a few years. You earn points by completing tasks, watching videos, playing games, doing internet searches, and other activities, similar to Perk. It’s Swagbucks and the site allows you to redeem the Swagbucks you’ve earned for gift cards from one of their many partners or simply cash into your Paypal account. So the question is, with all the activities that you participate in, is it really worth your time? In my opinion, the answer is yes, depending on your approach.

Swagbucks like many of these other activity sites,is perfect for earning a little extra side income. Even reputable sites like Reddit refer to Swagbucks as a way to “earn beer money”. If you decide to get your swag on, check out some of their groups which highlight ways to maximize your earnings if you’d like to put in some extra effort.
What Can You Do On Swagbucks?
Swagbucks offers several different ways to earn “bucks” including:
- Web searches
- Watching Videos
- Answering surveys
- Playing games
Taking Advantage of Offers with Partner Companies
You can also earn bonuses for achieving various daily and monthly goals and by completing daily checklists.
Swagbucks also has its own internal inbox with various offers for earning more bucks. Finally, you can earn points by referring others to Swagbucks. Here’s a little more about these opportunities.
This is my favorite way to earn points and it really is as simple as it sounds. Rather than completing your search through Google, Yahoo, Bing, or some other search engine, you submit your inquiry through the Swagbucks toolbar. You won’t earn SBs with every search, but you’re likely to earn a few SBs each day. To make things easier, you can install the Swag button which automatically includes the web search bar so you never have to remember where to do your search.
You can earn up to 500 SBs a day, if you’d like, by simply watching videos. I’ve actually never tried to do this as I think you’d need every bit of the 24 hours, but I’d love to have someone do it and prove me wrong! You typically watch anywhere between 6 and 20 short videos in order to earn between 1 and 4 Swagbucks. If you’re at your computer doing other things, this is an easy way to accumulate points, but not something I would necessarily go out of my way for.
I have never been a huge fan of surveys, but if you don’t mind answering a few questions, this could be a great way to earn some swag. You can fill out your profile which allows the system to better match you with surveys allowing you to earn more efficiently.
It seems like anytime I’m out and about, I see a ton of people on their phones playing a game to pass the time. So why not earn for something you’re enjoying doing anyway?
Online shopping has increased exponentially over the past few years. Whether you’re looking for a new pair of shoes, want to send someone flowers, or are even looking for a new car, you can find a retailer online.
Swagbucks partners with a ton of online stores where you can make purchases that you were going to make anyway. Retailers like Amazon and Walmart are just two of the thousands of vendors that will credit you for your purchases. Getting paid to shop? Yes, please!
Similar to shopping online, vendors also make special offers which allow you to earn Swagbucks if you take advantage of them. You can earn bucks for signing up for free trials, discounted products, or even entering to win prizes.
What are the Daily and Monthly Goals?
One unique thing I’ve seen with Swagbucks as opposed to other earning programs, is that you can receive bonus bucks simply for reaching the daily goal outlined. For example, if the daily goal is 70 SB, you can earn an additional 7 SB for achieving this goal. As you continue to meet your daily goals, you can achieve additional bonuses by reaching 7, 14, 21, and month long streaks. It’s like getting paid twice for the same tasks.
What Are the Daily Checklists?
Each day a to-do list provides seven tasks which you can complete allowing you to earn additional bucks. Currently, you must complete 6 of 7 tasks in order to qualify. The to-do list includes many of the various Swagbucks task categories available for completion including:
- Poll – Daily
- Crave – Daily
- Search – Daily
- Watch – Daily
- Discover – Daily
- Answer – Daily
- Deal of the Day
Other Ways to Earn Swagbucks
From what I’ve seen so far, there are a couple of other ways to earn Swagbucks.
From time to time, Swagbucks includes promotional tasks that offer rewards for completion. It can be a nice change of pace from the ordinary tasks you can complete.
Social Media At Work
From time to time, Swagbucks posts “SWAGCODES” on its social media accounts such as Facebook and Twitter which you can redeem for additional bucks.
If you enjoy using Swagbucks, why not let other people know about your find? You can earn Swagbucks for referring others to the site providing you a little boost to your account. Please feel free to sign up through the link below.
What Do I Earn?
You can trade your Swagbucks in for gift cards or even cash. Most Swagbucks convert to about a penny each. There are some gift cards that are “on sale” that have a slightly higher conversion rate.
Would I Recommend Swagbucks?
I think Swagbucks is a great way to earn some pocket money in your spare time. I’ve seen those who save their bucks throughout the year and are able to convert enough gift certificates to make a very good Christmas for their family.
It’s free to sign up so why not give it a shot? I’d love to know what your goals are. I plan to mark some items off my Christmas shopping list.
